Day 1

Kigali

On arrival at Kanombe International Airport, our guide will receive you and transfer you to your hotel or place of accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you can have a tour of Kigali city that gives you an exceptional feel of Kigali through activities such as; a visit to the museums, galleries, local markets and the Kigali Genocide memorial. The experience also offers the visitor a pleasant feel of fresh air while driving or walking through the tree-lined avenues as you get a glimpse of the pleasing city’s lush green hills as they flash by you from a distance.

Overnight:  Facilities range from luxury, mid-range to budget

Meals include: (Lunch or Dinner depending on arrival)

Day 2

Kigali- Nyagatare

The day begins with early morning breakfast and then transfer to Nyagatare. It is a breath-taking upward north drive on nice winding roads lined by trees creating a shade of trees on the Kigali-Gicumbi highway before branching off from Rukomo town heading further east through the newly tarmacked Rukomo – Nyagatare connection.

Nyagatare town is known to be one of the most beautiful places in Rwanda, laying in an area of grassy plains and sedative hills.  On arrival our visit begins with a tour of the amazing Muvumba landscape famous for rice growing that stretches up to about the borderline with Uganda. The name is connected to the surrounding muvumba river. It’s a muddy river fed by water from huge glaciers from some of the mountains from Gicumbi which are visible on the way throughout the area. The journey takes about 3 hours, upon arrival in Nyagatare visitors participate in rice farming experience and community visits to homes of rice farmers to experience the day of a rice farmer.

of the families can also be arranged.

Cultural and community-based experiences offered by Urugo Women’s Opportunity Centre range from weaving, sewing, Rwandan traditional cooking, traditional milk churning to make what we know as butter and beer making.

The centre is also runs a road-side café and craft market where visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee and pick a souvenir from a wide range of products produced by the graduates of the centre’s hands-on training programs.

Day 3

Nyagatare-Kayonza

On the third day, our expedition continues to Urugo Women’s Opportunity Centre for yet another thrilling experience about women economic empowerment. Urugo Women’s Opportunity Centre is an innovative social enterprise founded by Women for Women International in 2013 with the aim of empowering vulnerable women to find support, access resources and learn life-changing skills such as basket weaving, tailoring, sewing among other activities. The Centre that is located to the Rusumo-Kayonza highway has positioned itself a hub for women’s entrepreneurship, a space for learning, a resource for the community and a source of inspirational stories.

Day 4

Kayonza-Bugesera

After breakfast we set off towards Bugesera, driving through beautiful rolling hills and crossing the stunning Nyabarongo river en route to Nyamata town. The drive is about hours which leads us to Nelly’s farm for the hands-on African farm experience that stretches from early morning to mid-day. During the farm field tour, visitors participate in various farming activities that include; hoeing, planting, watering, weeding among other activities. The farm field tour climaxes with culinary experiences of the same plants visited in the garden, leaving our visitors with the “garden to plate experience”.

In the afternoon the visitors transfer to Lakeside Fish Farm which offers an easy camping adventure coupled with a camp fire driving through Nyamata town en route to Batima for about 25 to 30 minutes. At Lakeside Fish Farm visitors engage in a couple of activities that include a walk visiting the fishing ponds, greeting pigeons, pigs, goats, chicken and lungfish a fresh water vertebrate. The tour involves gaining knowledge about hatchery and organic farming or alternatively the visitors can participate in basket weaving still at Nelly’s farm.

Overnight: Guest House or camping depending on budget.

Day 5

Bugesera to Kigali and transfer to the airport

After breakfast we set off east towards Bugesera en route to Lakeside Fish Farm which offers an easy camping adventure coupled with a camp fire. The drive is about 2 hours driving through Ngoma, Rukumberi and Gashora. At Lakeside Fish Farm visitors engage in a couple of activities that include a walk visiting the fishing ponds, greeting pigeons, pigs, goats, chicken and lungfish a fresh water vertebrate. The tour involves gaining knowledge about hatchery and organic farming.

 END OF THE TOUR SERVICE

From Lakeside Fish Farm, if time allows visit local crafts markets for gifts and souvenirs or transfer to Kigali International Airport.
